Hastelloy B2 is a solid solution strengthened nickel-molybdenum alloy that has significant resistance to reducing environments such as hydrogen chloride gas, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, and phosphoric acid, and has excellent hydrochloric acid resistance under severe conditions of all concentrations and temperatures. Hastelloy B2 can prevent the formation of grain boundary carbide precipitation in the welding heat-affected zone, so it can be used in the welding state. It is generally not recommended to use this alloy in an oxidizing medium, which will cause premature failure of certain corrosion resistance properties of the product. It is also not recommended to use it in the temperature range of 1000° F and 1600° F, which will reduce the ductility of the alloy.
