Inconel 718 is a nickel-based super alloy designed to resist various severe corrosive environments, pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. It has strong oxidation resistance in the low temperature to 1400°F temperature range. In addition, alloy 718 still exhibits excellent yield strength, tensile strength and creep rupture strength at temperatures as high as 1300°F (704°C). Its composition contains niobium, and the precipitation hardening reaction is slow, so the material will not harden or crack during annealing or welding.
