Duplex 2205 is a nitrogen-reinforced duplex stainless steel that can be work-hardened, and its high chromium and molybdenum content give stainless steel excellent corrosion resistance. It not only has the resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high strength of ferrite alloy but also has the characteristics of easy manufacture and corrosion resistance of the austenitic alloy. Its structure is composed of an austenite pool surrounded by a continuous ferrite phase, which can resist Intergranular corrosion, crevice corrosion, and pitting corrosion, as well as higher impact toughness, which are the most widely used grades in the duplex stainless steel series. Duplex 2205 solves the common corrosion problems encountered in 300 series stainless steel. At temperatures above 300°C, the brittle micro-components of the stainless steel will precipitate and the oxidation performance will be impaired. At temperatures below -50°C, the micro-components will undergo ductile-brittle transition, so this grade of stainless steel does not Suitable for use at these temperatures.
